When the estate of one of the most iconic families in Sarasota is renovated, our job is simple: restore the exterior experience of the home back to its heyday, while taking full advantage of modern materials and technologies. Our client and the entire design team made impeccable decisions from start to finish, resulting in a truly unique piece of history preserved.
The concept for this special restoration was to allow the three structures on site to sing in a context that evoked the original landscape from over a century ago. Through a series of focal elements of varying scales, and the inclusion of pervious pavers to soften the expance of hardscape, guests and residents are pulled into this space and through the heart of the main house and into the backyard beyond. Two pool courtyards and a connecting meandering flagstone path anchor the gathering spaces, where views to the water are paramount, and the busy oceanfront across the street disappears, leaving guests with only a sense of rich history and modern comfort.
