Coastal Contemporary on Boca Grande
This coastal contemporary house in historic Boca Grande deserved a lush, tropical backdrop, but was in severe need of organization, nuance, and privacy for the pool area. Our solution was a series of raised containers and a floating hedge that allow golden light and salty air into this renovated sanctuary.
Privacy had been achieved previously with heavy clumping palms that made the backyard space feel tight, and was restricting light and air movement. Our series of raised containers allowed vegetation to be brought up to the raised pool edge with playful color, along with alternating Royal Palms and Silver Buttonwood Standards. To add focus and detail to the pool deck, we added custom concrete pots with sea glass, abalone and shells, planted with flowers and bromeliads for texture. With the help of a local artist, we also custom designed a driftwood, orchid and epiphyte sculpture to anchor the experience.
